Oct. 31- Nov 2, Tues - Thu {A} Mid-week Trail Clearing on the North Shore
We’ll be clearing ski trails and staying at resorts and a guest-house in the Solbakken and Cascade River area. These are classic style ski trails that will be machine-groomed in Winter. Our sponsors, who are members of the Norpine Ski Trail Association, require a minimum participation of 14 and a maximum of 20 North Stars.
To register for this trip, mail (U.S. Mail) a signed “Reservation and Waiver” form (couples may fill-out one waiver form) plus a $25 deposit check for each volunteer by September 30 to Michelle Trudeau-Spanjers, 8755 212th Street Ct. N. Forest Lake, MN 55025 Your deposit will be returned after you participate in the trail clearing. Print a “Reservation and Waiver” form on the north-stars.org website; on the Home Page click on the words “Trip Waiver Link”. If you have questions about filling out the Reservation and Waiver form, please phone Michelle Trudeau-Spanjers at 651-983-3037 (cell)
Be prepared to hike up to 5 or 6 miles clearing brush, sawing small branches, and perhaps shoveling dirt to level eroded areas. Arrive at your assigned lodging location by Tuesday evening Oct 31. After breakfast at Cascade Restaurant on Wednesday a full workday is planned, and half-day on Thursday prior to departure. All meals will be provided, including sack lunches at noon on the trail, and a dinner upon returning from the trail Wednesday evening.
North Star Ski Touring Club encourages car-pooling for conservation of fuel. Fuel reimbursement will be 100% for drivers carrying two or more volunteers, and 50% for drivers carrying one passenger.
Because we are sharing rooms and meals, and some volunteers riding together, everyone on the trip must be vaccinated for Covid 19.
If you have questions about ski trail clearing, or the trails we will be clearing, please phone Frank Janezich, 612-360-0068 cell, fjanezich@gmail.com
