Sept 18, Wed {WW} Hike Afton State Park.  Meet at 9:00 AM at Afton State Park Visitor Center, 6959 Peller Avenue South, Hastings, MN  55033.  Start hiking at 9:15 AM.  Hike the North River Trail, Prairie Trail, Oliver Charley Trail, South River Trail, and Oak Savannah Loop.  Hike will take approximately 3 hours and is about 7 miles long, though options for shorter routes are available.  Most of the hike will be on flat, unpaved trails, though there are occasionally some steep hills.  We will take breaks at the ski shelter on the Oliver Charley Trail and at Jerry’s bench near the T intersection, as well as some possible rests at other benches along the way.  We will pass outhouses 3 times on the hike.  Bring a bag lunch to eat at the Visitor Center after the hike.  You may also want to bring your hiking poles for the hills.  Minnesota State Park daily or annual pass is required for your car.
