July 28, Wed (WW) Mississippi River Ramble Bike Ride. Meet at North Mississippi Park, 5116 N Mississippi Dr., Minneapolis, MN 55412 at 10:00 near the playground and picnic area. Start biking at 10:15. We will bicycle upstream to the Coon Rapids dam, cross the river there and bike down the other side returning to North Mississippi Park. Along the way we'll pass by the Izaak Walton League's Breckenridge Chapter House, the Coon Rapids dam, the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, the Islands of Peace Park, a historic way station on the Red River Ox Cart Trail, the Minneapolis Water Works and the Minneapolis Police Canine Training Center. Distance is about 20 miles, mostly flat but with a few short steep ups and downs. Much of the route will be on either bike trails or quiet roads but a few short sections will be on the shoulder of E. River Road which is a busy 4 lane road. Bag lunch.
