Last chance for tickets to Annual Sommerfest Outing and Party on the Plaza! Once again North Stars will gather during the Minnesota Orchestra’s Sommerfest festival for music and fun on Thursday evening, Aug 1. This year’s Sommerfest theme is “Mύsica Juntis,”or “Music Together,” celebrating the music of the Americas—especially the music of Latin America. The Aug 1 concert includes a fabulous assortment of short pieces by Marquez and Piazzolla and other Latin American composers, as well as two jazzy pieces by George Gershwin, a jazz concerto by Artie Shaw featuring principal clarinet Gabriel Campos Zamora, and folklorico dancers! Before the concert we’ll get together outdoors on the plaza for food, drinks, music, and socializing. With subscriber and group discounts, tickets for the North Star group are only $18 apiece. The original of batch of seats at the rear of the concert hall sold out quickly. We have now reserved an additional batch at that astonishing price in the third tier—NOT “restricted view”—and they are almost gone also. Our group is already about three dozen peeps!
